AIMPLAS has a clear vocation to promoting the R&D with a special focus on projects for SMEs, collaborating with them in their integration in international consortiums, and helping the companies at every step of the process concerning the presentation of Projects to the different existing programmes and calls.

Since 2000, AIMPLAS has participated in more than 50 international Projects within different programmes, such as Capacities (CRAFT, Collective, Research for SMEs, Research for SME Associations), Cooperation (NMP, ICT, TRANSPORT, KBBE), PEOPLE Marie-Curie, LEONARDO, CORNET, EUREKA, IBEROEKA, among others, involving more than 150 companies.

AIMPLAS' laboratories have the largest number of ENAC accreditations in tests for the plastic industry at national level, for both thermoplastic and thermosetting materials. Through these tests and analysis, AIMPLAS offers integral solutions focused on solving problems, preparing technical data sheets for products, quality control, and characterization of unknown samples. AIMPLAS carries out the following tests and analysis of plastic materials:Mechanical properties, Physical and thermal properties, Optical properties, Performance against external agents, Rheological properties, Identification and Chemical analysis, Tests on plastic materials and products.

One of AIMPLAS' main roles is carrying out R&D projects both at a national and international level. AIMPLAS works with companies, universities, and technological centres in the development of innovative materials, the optimization of transforming processes and research for new applications.

AIMPLAS lines of research are: Development and improvement of polymeric materials (Biodegradable materials and renewable sources, Nanocomposites and functionalization of nanoparticles. Fireproof materials and smoke suppressors.), Improvement of transformation processes and Development of new products Active and intelligent packaging, Multifunctional structures. AIMPLAS co-operates together with the German certification body DIN Certco in order to provide technical support and information about the certification scheme to interested Spanish companies. AIMPLAS represents DIN Certco in the field of certification of product made of compostable materials. The service is completely free of charge for AIMPLAS´ associated companies.
