AIMPLAS has experienced technical staff as well as a pilot plant equipped to work in a wide range of extrusion processes of thermoplastic materials.

AIMPLAS’ Extrusion Department offers technical assistance services to companies from different sectors (Packaging, Construction, Agriculture, etc.) and participates as a coordinator, and as a partner, in numerous R&D projects at Regional, National and European level.

The projects carried out by the Extrusion Department at AIMPLAS cover fields as diverse as:

• Optimisation of processing conditions in extrusion of thermoplastic materials: polyolefins, polyamides, PET, etc.
• Development and optimization of the processing by extrusion of commercial and newly developed biodegradable materials.
• Technical assistance on troubleshooting of extrusion processes, and preparation of product, material or process technical data sheet.
• Development of monolayer and multilayer films for applications of flexible and semi-rigid packing.
• Extrusion of profiles from commodities (PE, PVC, PP, PS) and technical plastics (PC, PMMA).
• Extrusion of profiles of wood plastic composites (WPC).
• Manufacture of foamed sheets through physical and chemical foaming processes.
• Manufacture of short series of thermoformed packaging products.
• Lamination of thermoplastic films with different types of substrates through solvent-based and solvent-less techniques.
• Blow extrusion moulding of monolayer bottles.
